Japanese Internment

Do any of you remember studying World War II in 6th grade social studies? Just say yes, that will make me feel better.

Anyway, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, FDR signed an order that forced all people of Japanese descent living on the West Coast (Cali, Oregon, Washington) to go to these internment camps (think “prison”) for fear of them being spies. No spies were ever found.

The interesting part is there was just a news story that there was actually a Japanese internment camp on Fort Richardson, right down the road from us. There were about 200 people of Japanese descent living in Alaska, and they were rounded up and brought to the camp. Craziness.
